2012 Marathon Readiness Series

It’s that time again! Time to start getting a little more serious about the Honolulu Marathon, and my training in general. I just registered for the 808 Race Marathon Readiness Series. This year, I’m filled with more anxiety because I’ve been running less due to adding PT workouts and intervals to my training. I don’t feel ready even though my speed seems to have increased by about one minute per mile.

Here’s a photo I took during last year’s ING Direct 25K race in the series:

I like doing this series because it helps me get it together in time for the Honolulu Marathon, which always takes place in December. The series consists of five races, with the shortest being 15K, and the longest, 30K. The series kicks off in August, and the mileage increases incrementally  by 5K between the first 4 races, and then ends with a 1/2 marathon in November. Some people don’t like doing all the races, and choose to only do a few. I always opt for the whole series. Here’s a schedule of the races for 2012:

Boca Hawaii, Norman Tamanaha 15K (August 12 @ 6 a.m) $30.00
Runner’s Hi 20K (September 2 @ 6 a.m) $30.00
IRun 25K (October 7 @ 530 a.m) $30.00
P.F Chang’s 30K (October 28 @ 5 a.m) $30.00
Mizuno Val Nolasco Half Marathon (November 18 @ 5:30 a.m)$30.00

*For all five races, there is a $115 early entry fee through July 10th, and a $130 regular fee through August 12th.

You can download a registration form from the 808racehawaii.com site and mail it in, or you can register online via active.com
