Give Me Resolve, Dammit!

Welcome to the [sweet] potato party
Some sweet potatoes from my recent carbo load session this past weekend for the P.F. Chang’s 30K which got canceled due to the tsunami warning.

Lately, I’d been binging on my diet. It happens at night when I’m at home alone. I start eating random things just for the taste of it, and not because I’m necessarily hungry. It only started after I carbo loaded for two weekends in a row. I know people say you should carbo load before a long run, but in my situation where I’m trying to lose weight, or at least not gain any, it’s not working so awesome for me. Some people would probably say I should expect to gain weight, actually, and should have shed all my excess pounds by the end of summer, but since that didn’t happen, I’m still trying to lose weight while training for the marathon taking place in December.

I lose weight slowly… seems the most consistent rate I have is losing about 2 lbs. a month. Not bad, but not great. This is even when I try to watch my diet, and do 5 weight-lifting sessions, and 4 cardio sessions, including one 10+ mile run on the weekend. Sheesh.

Anyway. I am writing this in hopes that it helps me to commit to getting out of this weird, recent cycle.

Also, I took the time to google “maintenance mode” since I’m getting closer to my weight-loss goals, and boy o boy was I surprised to discover I have to pretty much exercise the same amount I have been all this time, and can only eat a few hundred calories more a day. I think I’m OK with that, though my workouts are incredibly time-consuming.

I don’t know if I want to keep doing marathons. I’m pretty committed this year unless I get injured before the marathon, but, next year… I just don’t know. Time will tell, I suppose. :)
